No one had lived in the building since around 1900 and although there were sometimes a few goats in the space behind the arched doors and neighbors had stored things in the loft and other rooms, it was empty.

They decided they liked the stone exterior instead of the stucco on many houses in the village, but they felt they could make the property more attractive and usable.
