There was a single exit on the north, a narrow door through the two feet thick wall. Once outside you were on a sloping yard that extended to the back line of the property where a water course runs constantly.

Just outside the door was a stone cheese hut with a concrete rooof on it with a turf roof on top of that to keep the inside cool in the summer.
