| In 2005 the north end of the Loft was a dark wall with a bright light in the top, open to the outside. This is the normal layout of a haymow. The door to put in the hay is in one end of the hay mow and the other end is closed against the cold. The hay insulates the house in the winter and the open space at the top allows the space to breathe to keep the hay from self combusting. | ||||||||
